Observe[edit]

The Observe page is accessed by tapping the Telescope icon. This page is used to command eVscope functions, view the current image, and make changes to image processing.

If the device is not connected to eVscope, the center of the page (the View) will show an animated eVscope and warning sign. Once the device is connected to the eVscope, the current view will be shown. With the dust cover off, the eVscope automating gain control (Auto mode) will adjust the View based the current conditions. With the dust cover one or if image Gain is low, the View will be black. If stars are visible in the eVscope's field of view, they will appear if Auto mode is enabled. The View may be pinched open and closed to change the magnification, and once magnified may be dragged. If Orientation has not been performed, an tapable eVscope orientation button will appear at the top of the View. This is also the location for alerts and warnings that may occur during eVscope operation.

Next to the View are a set of icons that may be on the right (Landscape aspect) or bottom (Portrait aspect). The three circles with "x" are changed and highlighted to show the current magnification. These are also buttons for selecting the magnification. If the device is in Observer mode, there will also be a Camera icon. Tapping this icon will save the current image to the Gallery. A confirmation will appear when this process is done. If the device is the Operator, two other buttons will appear. One is an Open Book and will access the Catalog. The other is Three Stars, which will begin Enhanced Vision.

Move/Edit[edit]

At the bottom of the Observe page are the button Move and Edit. Tapping Move opens the Move page. To the right (or bottom) is a toggle for Slow and normal eVscope slew speed. Slow is used for fine position adjustments. The white circle in a larger circle is a representation of the joystick. Dragging the white circle in any direction will cause the eVscope to change pointing direction at the Slow or normal rate (Orientation status will not be affected). Note that there are Settings that affect joystick behavior. The Target icon in the upper right allows the eVscope to be directly pointed the a specific sky location. This function is only available after Orientation. A fixed sky location may be selected by entering the Right Ascension and Declination. A fixed direction relative to the eVscope may be selected by entering an Altitude and Azimuth. The latter option will disable tracking and Orientation will need to be repeated before tracking can resume. Back will return to the Observe page.

Edit allows modification of image appearance that are preserved when the image is Saved. The options available will be different for Live and Enhanced view. In both views an Auto mode toggle allows the App to optimize parameters automatically. If Auto mode is off the image parameters may be manually changed. In Live view, changes to Gain and Exposure Time are made by selecting the parameter and swiping the slider. In Enhanced view, similar changes may be made to brightness and Contrast. The Back button returns to the Observe page.
